Jean-Michel Basquiat
Adults | Art | History/Social Studies | Spanish | Youth
Jean-Michel Basquiat was an extraordinary artist who created paintings and drawings filled with imagery that describes his ideas about life and the world around him. He drew upon a variety of skills and interests that he employed and expressed in complex ways, and he created his own rules about art, demonstrating that there is not one "right" way to express oneself or to approach art. Through interactive explorations of Basquiat's paintings, an interactive biography of his life, a digital painting tool, and online discussion forum, teens can gain insights into Basquiat's life and worldview—while reflecting upon their own.
