CTN Connect: BAVC and SF Commons

Join CTN and BAVC on July 26 for an event featuring SF Commons, San Francisco's new public access television station. Meet with other community technology leaders prior to BAVC's Community Mixer, and learn how to produce material for SF Commons to promote your organization's mission to a wider audience, especially if your community has not yet developed a strong internet presence. Discuss how this resource may also benefit the individuals who use your services, and learn about the training and resources BAVC offers in this area and many others. Community technology leaders met at BAVC to discuss SF Commons, San Francisco's new public access television station. Jennifer Gilomen, of BAVC, gave participants a tour of the SF Commons facilities and explained some of the changes the station is going through after changing hands, including preparing for the use of more automated services and online tools that will keep the station functioning in the face of massive budge cuts. She explained SF Commons memberships for individuals and nonprofits, and the differences between the two public access channels available in the city. She described BAVC's current special projects related to SF Commons, including a workshop for nonprofits who want to create public service announcements to promote their causes. Participants in this networking event had an opportunity following the event to mingle with SF Commons producers who had gathered at BAVC's community mixer.
